Lady Evelyn Independent School’s curriculum

Lady Evelyn Independent School’s curriculum is designed to encourage thought, curiosity and a desire for learning in all students, regardless of their backgrounds, strengths and needs. The curriculum should be a gateway to opportunity and a knowledge-based vibrant community in the United Kingdom and beyond. It must also reflect national policy and priorities.

The School’s curriculum provides students with an introduction to the essential knowledge that they need to be educated citizens, and also helps to engender an appreciation of human creativity and achievement.

The curriculum provides an outline of core knowledge around which teachers can develop exciting and stimulating lessons to promote the development of students’ knowledge, understanding and skills as part of the wider school curriculum.

This policy sets out the curriculum that underpins teaching and learning at the School. The curriculum will serve the aims of the School and its community. This is defined through the School’s mission of educational excellence, character development and service to communities.

As well as helping students gain admission to top universities, the academic life at Lady Evelyn Independent School encourages scholarship, intellectual curiosity, independent thought and effective learning habits. We offer a coherent and balanced curriculum that responds quickly to changing requirements, as well as a challenging and inspiring Super-Curriculum that widens and enriches boys’ knowledge and understanding.

Lady Evelyn Independent School’s online learning platform and lesson library enable learners to make great progress in their studies. Our students have control over their learning and their interactions around the school; a personal, engaging teaching experience where they can directly and discreetly ask questions to their teachers during and after classes to ensure they have an in-depth understanding of the subject or topic before moving on.

Above all, what we offer our young people is time. The effectiveness of our school means that students are ‘in school’ only for three or four hours a day giving them an unrivalled opportunity to pursue their personal interests, hobbies, pastimes and other activities they want to undertake. It all adds up to make Lady Evelyn Independent School as individual as our students.

We give our students control over their learning and they enjoy their interactions around the school; a personal, engaging teaching experience.
